Congo-Angola: A New Dynamic of Energy and Trade Integration

Integration between Congo and Angola is taking on a new dimension, driven by electricity interconnection projects, gas ambitions, and a shared commitment to facilitating cross-border trade. This dynamic could permanently transform economic relations between the two countries and strengthen the energy architecture of Central Africa.

The rapprochement between Brazzaville, Kinshasa, and Luanda is no longer based solely on diplomacy, but on concrete infrastructure projects. Among the most significant is the 400 kV DRC-Angola-Congo electricity interconnection project, the next steps of which include the submission of feasibility and preliminary design documents in the second half of 2025.

This integration strategy is part of a broader vision: connecting grids, securing energy supplies, and facilitating regional trade flows. It also addresses a clear need to pool resources in a region where electricity shortages still hinder industrialization.
