Critical minerals drive the technology in our phones, computers, and even fighter planes. This interactive Atlas of Critical Minerals shows you where critical minerals are produced. Once you navigate to the atlas, click on a country to discover how many critical minerals it produces, what percent of the world production they are responsible for, and details on what each mineral is used for.
The critical minerals shown in the atlas are from the 2022 List of Critical Minerals. Later this month, the USGS will release the draft 2025 List of Critical Minerals for public comment and for review by the other government agencies that rely on it. The USGS tracks more than 90 minerals in 180 countries. The atlas shows 2023 production data from the most recent Mineral Commodity Summaries and the 2023 Minerals Yearbook.
