Fifth Meteorological Economy Forum Highlights New Energy Forecasting and Climate-Resilience Solutions

On September 10, the Fifth Meteorological Economy Forum was held in Beijing, where Chinese institutions and companies presented new advances in wind and solar resource assessment, annual renewable power generation forecasting and meteorological services for new power systems.

Held as a thematic forum of the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), the event focused on the integration of artificial intelligence-based meteorological services with new power systems, green energy and climate governance under the theme "Embarking on the 15th Five-Year Plan: Resilient Synergy between Climate Change and Green Energy."

At the forum, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) presented a national wind and solar resource dataset with more than 10 years of data, a spatial resolution of 1 kilometer and hourly updates. The dataset includes wind resource profiles at multiple heights from 60 to 300 meters and three elements of surface solar radiation.

The Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization and the National Climate Center also presented their research on annual global renewable power generation forecasts. The product covers wind, solar and hydropower and provides annual overall generation capacity forecasts and monthly trends for the world and key regions.

Moji Weather released its 2026 meteorological solution for new power systems, centered on its "ElectroMetis" energy SaaS platform. The solution integrates kilometer-level and minute-level meteorological monitoring, AI-based forecast correction, satellite and radar data, and on-site data from power stations.
