The announcement was made by Engineer Ashebir Balcha, Chief Executive Officer of EEP and Chairperson of the EAPP Executive Committee, during the 37th Special Meeting of the EAPP Steering Committee, which is being held in Addis Abeba.
According to EEP, the meeting is considering proposed amendments to the intergovernmental and inter-institutional Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), as well as related governance documents submitted by member states.
Addressing delegates, Ashebir said the completion of infrastructure required for cross-border electricity trade marks a significant step toward enhancing regional power integration.
He said EAPP member states will work to address electricity shortages across the region by ensuring a reliable and sustainable electricity supply, while strengthening cooperation through the joint development of energy infrastructure.
